Mike Westermen Music Scholarship| Mike's Night X -- Friday, March 19, 2010 Mike Westermen just finished his Junior year in high school and was on vacation with his family when he was tragically killed in a pedestrian-vehicle accident on June 5th, 2000. His plan was to graduate from high school, attend college as a music major, and pursue his dream of being a band director ( "Just like Mr. Trytten..." he would say). We would like to call attention to a wonderful event. Mikes Night X is scheduled for Friday, March 19, 2010, at 7:00 P.M. in our Performing Arts Center. Mike's Night is an annual benefit concert which honors the memory of former band member Mike Westermen. The concert fuels a scholarship fund which has raised thousands of dollars and has provided cash scholarships for five NCH graduates who have chosen to pursue music degrees in college. There is always a wide variety of entertainment at this event, and we are sure you will all enjoy an evening of great music and fellowship. A cash donation is recommended at admission. Although Mike's dream was cut short, his impact on felow and future music educators continues to live on. The Mike Westermen Music Scholarship was established in the weeks after his death, with the intention to give financial assistance to NCH graduates who share Mike's dream of changing students lives as a music teacher. To date, five students have been named recipients of the Mike Westermen Music Scholarship.
